1 Simple Card Layout, 4 Unique Cards

Do you love a simple card layout that can be used to create multiple card styles? If so, you’re going to love today’s projects!

In today’s post, you’ll see 4 cards using 1 simple card layout! My first two projects feature the Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper and Limited Edition Stamp Set. The first card you see here was actually my design for the August Simple Suite Stampers Tutorial Bundle. The theme for the August tutorial bundle is the Happy Forest Friends Suite.

This card was super quick and easy to make! I simply attached my designer paper pieces to their respective Old Olive cardstock backings, tied some baker’s twine around the middle, attached this assembled piece to the card body with Dimensionals, and added my sentiment piece.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark, heat embossed with white embossing powder, and die-cut using the Stylish Shapes dies. It is attached to the front of the card with Dimensionals. I just love this sentiment! It is definitely my favorite stamp in the Limited Edition Stamp Set!

To finish off my card I used a large gem and three smaller rhinestone jewels.

The Amber Jem comes from the Leaf Label & Amber Gems Combo Pack. It’s quite a bit darker and showier than the Champagne Rhinestones. I intentionally used this bold little accent to call attention to the sentiment. The Champagne Rhinestones provide a more subtle accent in the background.

Believe it or not, my second card is also made with the Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper!

It’s a completely different color scheme but all the same elements. I love how designer paper makes cardmaking so easy.

This version came together literally in a few minutes! The color scheme used here is Sahara Sand and Calypso Coral.

So I love both of these simple cards and I could have easily stopped creating right there but I just had to go a bit further with this simple card layout!

These next two cards use two of my all-time favorite paper crafting products; embossing folders, and foil cardstock!

For my Facebook Live, I wanted to show how easy it is to take a simple card layout like this, and give it a completely different, stepped-up look!

Instead of using designer series paper, I’ve used some of the Brushed Metallic Foil Specialty Paper with the Elegant Eucalyptus, and the Thanks & Hello Embossing Folders.

To create the foil element on the top of this card I simply applied Versamark Ink directly to the flat side of the embossing folder, and dry embossed my foil cardstock to transfer the ink to the foil. Next, I poured black embossing powder over the surface, tapped off the excess, and heat embossed. I think this is so striking and elegant!

The bottom panel was dry embossed using the “Thanks” embossing folder from the Thanks & Hello pair of folders. I’ve added some Clear Wink of Stella to the “Thanks” only to help make it stand out. You could also add some Mossy Meadow ink to the “Thanks” to make it stand out even more. I didn’t do that here because I was afraid I’d make a mess of it.

For a few finishing touches, I’ve added some ribbon, Brushed Brass Butterflies, and a little extra Jet Black Stazon along the bottom. The ribbons are the Old Olive Twill and Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon. I love the look of combining multiple greens on one card!

For my last card, I mixed things up yet again. It’s the same basic design with a few little tweaks!

The foil piece at the top of this card is the one created during my live video. It turned out quite different from the first one and I like them both!

There’s a lot more black on this version which allowed me to place my Brass Butterflies right onto the foil.

Plus, for this version, I eliminated the small foil strip at the bottom and used the ribbon to bridge the gap between the top and bottom pieces.

The bottom panel was created by dry embossing a piece of foil cardstock. It’s the same color of foil that was used for the top piece. Can you see the subtle brushed metallic look? This is really beautiful foil cardstock and it’s just one of the three gorgeous colors in a pack of the Brushed Metallic Cardstock.

You should also know that you can get the Brushed Metallic Cardstock for FREE with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration! Order yours TODAY! I just checked and it’s now on LOW INVENTORY! UGH!
