11 Quick Cards Part 2

Learn how to make a bunch of cards super fast with a card salad medley! Check out the next 4 projects in my 11 Quick Cards Part 2 blog post.

All 11 projects feature the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and the Natures Roots Dies which are retiring from the 2020 – 2021 Annual Catalog! If you didn’t read my last post you may be wondering what “card salad” is. Well, it’s pretty simple! After each creative cardmaking session, I am usually left with a bunch of pieces and parts and/or some focal pieces that I didn’t end up using. I put these leftover pieces into a baggie for future use. I have a lot of these baggies!!! In preparation for my “Card Salad” Party I grabbed a bunch of my baggies with pieces made using items that are retiring from the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I used 4 of these card salad baggies to make my 11 quick cards!

All 11 quick cards shown in the photo below were made with the 4 card salad baggies in the middle. These particular baggies contained mostly focal pieces, which is not always the case.

While my card salad party was held on April Fools Day… this is no joke! All these cards were made (or mostly made) in my Facebook Live event! Now to be fair, I did do some planning ahead of time to make these designs come together quickly.

Plus, my card salad baggies gave me a major jump start!!! I love my card salads!

Now in today’s 11 Quick Cards Part 2 post, I’m going to focus on four of my 11 quick cards.

Now, this card salad baggie mostly contained the die-cut colored Oak Trees that you see on these cards but there was also a set of pieces for a card I’d mostly already designed. The Oak Trees were all created using Brusho Crystals. Later in this post, I’ll talk a bit about the process I used. As you can see, I’ve got more trees to play with from my card salad baggie!

The card you see in the photo below was the one that I’d already designed but had not put together yet.

A few details about this card:

  • Before I die-cut my Night of Navy frame I used the direct-to-paper technique to add some texture. I simply rubbed the ink pad on my cardstock to create streaks of color. It’s subtle but it adds some nice dimension to the piece. Check out the close-up photo below to see this detail.
  • The direct-to-paper technique was also used to add some texture and color to the center of the Shaded Spruce card body.
  • The frame is die-cut using the Rectangle Stitched Dies and it’s popped up on Dimensionals.

This card served as a great jumping-off point for the remaining three card designs I’ll be sharing in this post.

Tips: Creating variations of a design you’ve already created is a super easy way to design more quickly!

This second card came together so fast and I love it!

A few details about this card:

  • I used the Night of Navy die-cut piece from the first card as a backing for my Oak Tree.
  • The Oak Tree is popped up on Dimensionals.
  • My Misty Moonlight layer is dry embossed using the retiring Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

I’m so sad to see this embossing folder retire! This subtle textured background is so versatile making it my go-to for so many projects!

To finish off this card simply tie some White Baker’s Twine and Just Jade ribbon (retiring) around the bottom of the assembled card.

As you can see, my third card is a variation of the previous card in a different color scheme.

A few details about this card:

  • The direct-to-paper technique was used on the Soft Suede background layer for the Oak Tree.
  • The Oak Tree is popped up on Dimensionals.
  • My Crumb Cake layer is dry embossed using the retiring Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • The Braided Linen Trim and Calypso Coral ribbon are simply attached around the backside of the Crumb Cake layer with Mini Glue Dots.
