Embossing folders are one of my favorite items to play with! In today’s post, you’ll learn a fun way to use the NEW Seabed embossing folder with the 2020 – 2022 In-Colors.
With the introduction of each new Annual Catalog, I create a bookmark for my club members. They’ve come to expect this over the years and I aim to please! Today’s post features the bookmark for this year. I’ve used the Whale Done stamp set, and the Seabed embossing folder with the 2020 – 2022 In-Colors. This stamp set is part of the adorable Whale of a Time product suite.
In this post, I’ll also provide a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at the production process for my “Taste of a Suite” product shares, which is the other big project happening in my “Treehouse” studio space, at the moment! I did a little tour of the production process in my Facebook Live video, plus shared my NEW Mini-Catalog preorder products in that video too! You’ll find the video at the end of this post.
In this first photo you’ll see a bit of everything used to make my bookmarks and all the pieces and parts at various stages.

Now when I design one of these bookmarks my goal is to show the In-Colors in as many ways as possible so I’m showing a wide range of possibilities for how to use the colors.
For this particular bookmark you’ll see four ways to use each of the 2020 – 2022 In-Colors!
To get started, I usually print out a few layouts on plain printer paper, and then I play with my stamps to figure out the design and spacing of the printed words. For this design, it was easy to do all the stamping on full sheets. I did all the stamping on all the printed sheets in a single color and then wash my stamps and move on to the second color.

I’m working on stamping these little fish in the Bumble Bee color here. After stamping all the fish I’ll stamp the “bubbles” image with first and second inking. Showing both full ink and second ink on Whisper White card stock are two of the four ways to use these ink colors.

For these bookmarks I’ve varied the base color with some in each of the five 2020 – 2022 In-Colors.
Simply showing the card stock itself is the third way I’ve shown the colors. The fourth method is really my favorite one, because I’ve used the Seabed embossing folder to showcase how the card stock looks with, and without ink applied to the colored card stock. Instead of using stamps, I’ve used the embossing folder to apply the ink so you see the shape of the embossing folder on the card stock itself.

Check out my video at the end of this post if you want to watch how I created these inked, dry embossed backgrounds.

As promised, below are some photos of the production process for my “Taste of a Suite” product shares.
It just so happens that I’m currently working on finalizing the Annual Catalog “Taste of a Suite” shares, AND I’m at the beginning stages of offering shares for the NEW August to December Mini-Catalog. I just had to take the opportunity to show these two stages of production since it’s all happening at the same time in my studio!
Here are some photos of Annual Catalog shares that are almost ready to fill orders with.
There have been some backorders which has delayed the shipping a bit. I’m still waiting on a few items but most what you see here will be packaged up and shipped out to customers in the next few days!

There were 33 people who ordered 161 shares. The packages that are not yet sealed in this photo, were the most popular and all have had backordered items.
It’s going to feel so good to package these up and send them off to customers for what will surely feel like an early Christmas or Birthday in the mail!

What you see in the next few photos, are the beginning stages of the August to December Mini-Catalog “Taste of a Suite” Shares:
For this round of new shares, I ordered all the consumable products in the Mini-Catalog. The first thing I do is lay them out on my table by product suite. Then, I start assembling sample shares so I can show them off.
I just love checking out each of the products as I prepare my piles, and then create each beautiful package for each share! So fun!!!
The sheer pleasure I get from this process makes all the work of doing it worth it! Plus, I know I’ll be making the recipients so happy!

As you can probably tell, I use every container, of every size, and shape throughout the process! Who out there loves containers! ME! Please leave a comment and let me know if you are a container junkie like me!!!
The NEW August – December Mini-Catalog shares are available to preorder through 8/3/20. Click HERE to check out all the details.

Love your bookmarks! A unique take on useful item! Your video was very informative and fun, best product showcase I’ve seen in quite awhile. Now I have to decide which products to order from you (all of course would be nice, but my hubby would definitely throw a fit!). I really like watching your videos, they are fun and great techniques you share.
Thanks so much Nancy! I’m glad you loved my bookmark and enjoyed the product showcase as well. This is an amazing mini catalog… so many great choices! Have fun picking and thanks for taking the time to comment!!!
