5 Simple Cards with the Flowering Vine Dies

Today’s cards all started with the Flowering Vine Dies and this simple card designed by fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Mary Fish.

I simply love the Flowering Vine Dies and so when I saw Mary Fish’s elegant card I just had to make it myself but I couldn’t stop there!

This layout just called to be played with and so I set to playing! Now before I move on to sharing my variations here are some basic details about the original card here.

  • The large Early Espresso Layer is raised up on a foam adhesive sheet.
  • I attached my Flowering Vine die-cut piece with Mini Glue Dots just to keep it simple. Mary Fish die-cut hers with a foam adhesive sheet attached in behind so the whole piece would be raised up.
  • Two sizes of Pearls were used and every flower has a pearl in the center. There are 12 pearls in total used on this focal piece.
  • The sentiment piece is stamped using an image from the Vine Design Stamp Set and die-cut using one of the Flowering Vine Dies. This piece is flat on top of the die-cut piece but raised up on the two ends with dimensionals.

My first card variation is made in pretty much the same way as the original however I’ve used a Love You Always Foil Sheet in Roccoco Rose.

For this version, instead of using MiniGlue Dots, I attached an adhesive sheet to my foil before I die-cut it so it would be easier to attach and so it would lay completely flat on the white layer in behind. It was cut from the larger layer of foil also used on this card. To see how I did that watch my video at the end of this post.

The pack of Love You Always Foil Sheets comes with three foil colors including Roccoco Rose, Blushing Bride, and Sahara Sand. It’s simply gorgeous! These foil sheets will be retiring as of June 30, 2021! Plus, they’re on sale for 50% off!

The sentiment is stamped in Magenta Madness Ink.

This next card is made with the Sahara Sand Foil from the Love You Always Foil Sheets pack.

For this version, I took a stab at attaching a foam adhesive sheet onto my foil and then die-cutting my piece. Since this piece was especially thick I ran it back and forth in my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine multiple times to make sure it cut all the way through the foil and foam. While it did cut through, I did have to poke out lots of the pieces and it was a bit labor-intensive. Showing below is the front of the foil negative space piece and the backside of the die-cut piece.

To put this card together I’ll simply attach a layer of white cardstock on the foil negative space piece and attach my die-cut piece in the center.

I love the popped up look of the die-cut piece on this version plus the Sahara Sand Foil is so classy and elegant! The sentiment is stamped in Gray Granite ink.

For this fourth card I wanted to use a leftover piece I had made with Shimmery White Embossing Paste and ink refills.

I was envisioning that I’d cut it out with the Flowering Vine Dies and use it on this card. It didn’t quite work out as I’d expected but I still managed to use it on this card.

Here’s my piece of paper with the colored Shimmery White Embossing Paste on it. In the video ahead I showed how to create this piece.

So, as I mentioned I wanted to die-cut this piece but when I tried, it cut along the outside edge but it was simply too thick in the other spots for the die to cut through it. What I got was the piece below with an impression of the die in it. I didn’t especially like this piece as a stand alone element but I decided to die-cut a solid colored die-cut shape to put over the top.

I used a Pacific Point cardstock for the die-cut piece over the top here.

Isn’t the Shimmery Embossing Paste so pretty!?

Last but not least, here is my final card. This was such a fun one to make!

I’ve used my Gilded Leafing and an adhesive sheet for this fun variation of my card.

I started by attaching my black die-cut piece to an adhesive sheet. By doing this, my intention was to leave the adhesive in the opening around the die-cut piece exposed so I could fill in the gaps with my gilded leafing.

The card above was created using Basic White cardstock for the base and for the additional layer. For the focal piece created during my video, I decided to use Vanilla cardstock instead. For this version, I didn’t get around to adding the sentiment or pearls yet but I think it’s really pretty as is.
