My name is Melissa and crafting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, thanks to my mom! When I was introduced to paper crafting and Stampin' Up! over 17 years ago, I did not see myself as creative at all! At the beginning, I was a bit overwhelmed, but soon after I started playing, all that disappeared and I was completely and totally hooked! I was drawn to paper crafting like a magnet. It was a creative escape, a place where I could go to see the beginning, middle and end to a project, and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Ultimately, I knew I needed to join Stampin’ Up! when I started dreaming in color combinations, card layouts and project designs. At the time, I thought I was loosing my mind just a bit. Truthfully, it’s been the best decision ever!!!
I love long views, snow capped mountains and wildflower meadows. My crafting is often inspired by nature. I love to laugh and do it a lot! I'm playful, love to be silly and try to be funny (some people say I am). Cleaning is my least favorite task, but organizing is sort of an obsession! I love to craft and could do it morning, noon and night and I would if I could.
My husband, Ron, is incredibly supportive, and we have two amazing daughters, Sarah and Katie. I adore them. Here are some photos of my little family:
I believe in knowing oneself, taking care of ourselves and taking care of the people around us. My Yoga practice helps me to do just that. I practice Yoga, not just the physical poses, but yoga as a way of life! Physical, mental and spiritual health are all part of yoga to me!
I often don't feel "good enough", but yoga helps remind me, and gives me the courage, to keep striving to be the best person I can be. Invertions, like the one you see me doing here, help me get that alternative perspective, plus invertions help me to be courageous and strong!
Creative expression through paper crafting has brought me great joy and a sense of accomplishment. Somewhere along the way, I realized that if there was the potential for others to share even a small fraction of the joy that I felt, I simply had to share it with anyone that would listen. Here's a small glimpse of my Treehouse Crafting community...
The truth is that I have the most amazing space to craft in! Quite often when people first come to an event, they say “if I had this space I’d never leave it!” There’s actually a bed in my “treehouse”, so when people see that, they’re simply ready to move in! LOL!
“Melissa’s Crafting Treehouse” is my playhouse and oasis from the cares of life! It is my work space, my crafting space and my classroom. I love sharing this space with my community of crafting friends. My literal and virtual playhouse is filled with laughter, light and lots of crafting fun! I wish I could invite you all over!
