These Birthday Bonanza Stampin’ Up! Cards include a super fun element that’s easy to create and definitely a Wow!
The Birthday Bonanza Designer Paper and the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set are the featured products here. This fun layout is created by doing a simple die-cutting trick that can be done with a number of different dies. I’ve used two different dies for this “corner cut” on the three cards in this post, and in my Facebook Live, I showed FOUR MORE OPTIONS using the NEW Ornate Layers Dies that are coming on April 1, 2020! So fun!!!
I learned this awesome layout and Big Shot trick from my fellow demonstrator friend Gloria Plunket. Click HERE to check out Gloria’s project.
Here’s my trio of cards:

For all of these projects, the cutting is super easy. All you need is a standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base and two pieces of designer paper or cardstock that measure 4″ x 4″. You’ll also need some scraps for the sentiment and it’s backings.
For this first project, I’ve used one of the Rectangle Stitched dies to cut the piece of designer paper on the top.
Can you see the stitching along the edge of the angled piece?

There is one unique element on this sentiment element that I don’t want you to miss!
Can you see the little white images on the scalloped edge circle? Those are NOT stamped! I die cut a piece of one of the Printed Gusseted Cellophane Bags that are part of this suite using the scalloped edge circle. I think it adds a fun element to this background that mirrors elements in the designer paper.

Wouldn’t it be fun to package up a gift in one of these bags and give it with this coordinated card? Fun right?

For this next version, I dry embossed the top Mango Melody cardstock with the Curls and Swirls embossing folder first, then used my die-cutting trick with the rectangle shape in the Natures Thoughts Dies.

Important Tip: If you’re going to dry emboss, it’s important that you do that first and then the die-cutting second. If you do it in the reverse your detailed edge will get smooshed when you do your dry embossing. I love the edge created by this die!
This third card was the one created during my Facebook Live.

I’ve used the Nature’s Thoughts dies for the corner cut on this one too. This close-up really shows the edge pattern that this die creates! It’s a delicate zig-zag of small dots.

The Nature’s Thoughts dies coordinate with the Positive Thoughts stamp set. The stamp set is in the current mini-catalog but the dies are only available till March 31, 2020, OR while supplies last. I’m going to be so sad to see these dies go away. I love them!!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Birthday Bonanza Stampin’ Up! Cards and DieCutting Trick! Check out how to do this trick in my Facebook Live Video, that you’ll find at the end of this post.
