Welcome to the January Color Challenge for the Color Fusers Blog Hop! I hope you’re enjoying the blog hop so far!

There are always lots of fun projects presented by the talented members of the Color Fusers Blog Hop team of designers! This is a monthly blog hop. We go live on the first Monday of each month at 10 am EST.

My projects today feature the NEW Beauty Abounds Bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalog. I’ve created a collage and added a few additional elements for a little dimension and bling.

There are some wonderful images and sentiments in this set and the dies are really pretty amazing!

This set of thinlits contains two big dies that coordinate, such that when you lay one on top of the other you’re able to create a multicolored and/or multi-dimensional element for your projects. Plus, there are a ton of smaller dies to play with!

For today’s color fusers blog hop projects, I’ve used three of the tiny butterflies. For this particular die you get multiples of the same shape, which makes the die cutting so much easier and less time-consuming. In the photo below, can you see the dies with the tiny butterflies? I could have cut out 10 of these at the same time if I’d wanted to! Cool right?!

For the focal pieces on these cards, I’ve used first and second inking to get the darker and lighter butterflies and specks. However, the bokeh dots images are all full ink, although it doesn’t really look like it.

The stamp set includes two images to create these bokeh dots and each has varying sizes of circles in it. They are created such that each of the circles in the one stamp shows up lighter or darker, based on how the rubber is constructed. The one image alone produces a multidimensional look. Each circle shows up with different depths of color, even though the whole stamp was inked up all at the same time, and with the same amount of ink.

A few more details about these cards:

  • Attach the Balmy Blue layer to the card body using with stampin’ dimensionals.
  • Attach the tiny butterflies with either a rolled up glue dot, or one-quarter of a mini dimensional. This allows you to vary the height of each butterfly.
  • Color each of the mini butterflies with a Clear Wink of Stella brush to give them a bit of shimmer.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment(s) with white embossing powder.
  • Place rhinestone jewels in a few spots for some added bling.

The second card includes some slight variations.

I’ve added more rhinestone jewels and heat embossed the sentiment several times across the bottom.

In the two close-ups below you can really see more of the detail including the bit of shimmer on the tiny butterflies.
