Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for September!
I hope you’re enjoying the Color Fusers Blog Hop so far. The color scheme this month includes three colors that I really enjoyed playing with. The Blueberry Bushel and Gray Granite are both brand new colors to the Stampin’ Up! color line up. The Blackberry Bliss is a past InColor that was added to the core set of Stampin’ Up! colors, with the new Annual Catalog. I am so excited that Blackberry Bliss is back to stay (at least for now). My project today features the Beautiful Blizzard Bundle and the Very Vanilla Lace Trim.
I created two versions of this card. The only difference is the placement of the Lace Trim as you can see below.
This is a super simple card to make but there are a few details that might not be obvious that I’d like to share.
- The snowflake was actually die cut out of a white piece of cardstock and then simply placed face down on the Blueberry Bushel Ink pad. I used a piece of scrap paper over the top when tapping it down to keep my fingers clean.
- The snowflakes are stamped in first, second and third inking, with just one image in full ink.
- Both the snowflake and the stamped focal piece were spritzed with a mixture of the Frost White Shimmer Paint and Alcohol. It’s hard to tell here but it’s really pretty in person.
- The Lace Trim was colored with the Light and Dark Blackberry Bliss Blends Alcohol Markers.
- On the version just below, the Lace Trim was attached to the Whisper White focal piece with Glue Dots, then the whole piece was attached to the Blueberry Bushel piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Rhinestone Jewels were add in a few spots for some added bling.
Here’s a close up so you can really appreciate the gorgeous colored lace trim. I think this is my favorite element on this card!
Can you see a little bit of shimmer on the stamped white piece? It’s subtle and hard to capture on camera.
Just below is my second version of this card.
- On this version, the Lace Trim was attached to the Blueberry Bushel focal backing piece with Glue Dots, then the whole Blueberry Bushel piece was attached to the Gray Granite card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The next two photos really show off the Lace Trim. I thought the lace looked so different against the Gray Granite v.s. against the Blueberry Bushel and I couldn’t decide which I liked better. It’s just such a pretty element, as I created a bit of an Ombre effect with the Blackberry Bliss Blends alcohol markers.
I’d love to know which version you like better, the version with the lace on the Gray Granite background or the lace against the Blueberry Bushel background. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think!
I’ve included a complete supply list ahead and project dimensions for both versions of my card, plus a video tutorial for today’s project.
So I hope you’ve enjoyed my project and will continue along on the Color Fusers Blog Hop today. You won’t want to miss out on seeing the creations of the talented Color Fusers team members! Just so you know, the Color Fusers Blog Hop happens on the first Monday of every month. So, I hope you’ll make a note of it and check back each month to see the new color challenge.

What a great idea to color the lace with blends!!! Your card is beautiful!
What an amazing card! So unique in colors from the traditional Green’s and Red’s! I really like that! And I love the added lace at the bottom and how it matches the blackberry cardstock and some of the snow flakes in the same color that you used! Really very lovely!
Cindy, thanks so much for commenting and letting me know what you think of my project!
both are pretty, but I favor the grey granite!
Melanie, thanks for commenting and letting me know your preference. I lean toward the Gray Granite too just because I think you can see the detail of the lace a little better. Thanks again for taking the time to comment!
