DIY Valentine Treats – 2 Quick & Easy Projects!

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing two quick and easy DIY Valentine Treats.

These DIY Valentine Treats feature the Country Floral Lane Suite and the Dandy Designs Sale-A-Bration designer paper. I’ve made two versions of my pop-up chocolate bar sleeve (shown just below) and two versions of the simplest pouch you’ll ever make (shown later in this post)!

My version on the left is intended to appeal to a masculine audience and the one on the right is a bit more feminine. The Country Floral Lane Suite has a variety of patterns and color combinations making it useful for a variety of project styles.

The sleeve body piece is made with Kraft cardstock and then it’s wrapped with another layer of cardstock covered with designer series paper.

The die-cut letters used for my “LOVE” are made with the Alphabet A La Mode dies which I absolutely adore! Before they were die-cut I added an adhesive sheet to the back side of my Sweet Sorbet cardstock, so the letters would have adhesive on the back and would be super easy to attach to my Vellum Cardstock.

The letters were attached to the vellum BEFORE the vellum was attached to the sleeve. I did this so that I could put multipurpose liquid glue on the backside of the vellum, where the letters were, so the adhesive would be hidden when attached. After putting the glue on the vellum I allowed it to dry a bit so it wouldn’t ooze and show through after it was attached to the sleeve.

Watch my video tutorial at the end of this post to see me create and assemble this project.

One of my favorite things about this project is the fun way the chocolate bar slides out of the sleeve.

You simply grab the bow at the top and pull up to reveal the chocolate bar.

Below you’ll see the pieces before the sleeve was assembled and the basic assembly steps:

  • The Kraft cardstock sleeve is scored and attached to create a box with an open bottom and top.
  • I then punched a hole in the center, near the top on the front and back of the sleeve, so the holes are in line with one another, one behind the other. If you want the hole to be hidden just make sure it’s about ¾” down from the top.
  • Thread the ribbon through both holes and slip the chocolate bar into the sleeve, pushing the ribbon down into the sleeve, until the candy is completely hidden in the sleeve.
  • Tie the second piece of ribbon around the burlap ribbon at the top of the sleeve.
  • The decorative wrapper was folded around the Kraft cardstock “box”, without scoring, to create a smooth rounded look. It was then attached to the Kraft cardstock base and attached to itself around the backside.

I’ve added a few embellishments around the letters for a finishing touch of shine and interest on each of these DIY Valentine Treats. For my blue version, Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins were used. For my other version, I used some Red Rhinestone Jewels.

My second project is truly the simplest pouch you can possibly create!

All you need is a square of designer paper or cardstock. A 6″ x 6″ piece of the Country Gingham designer series paper was used here. In just four folds you’ve got this adorable pouch and you don’t even really need adhesive unless you add a sentiment as I did here.

I chose this particular piece of designer paper so it would coordinate with my chocolate bar sleeve.

As mentioned above, all you need is a square piece of designer paper or cardstock!

Why not make a big gift pouch using a 12″ x 12″ piece of designer paper as I have done with the Dandy Designs Sale-A-Bration paper (shown below)? I love this big pouch! You can put a bunch of little gifts inside to make a sweet ensemble. For some reason this large pouch makes me think of a diaper, especially in these soft colors. I’m envisioning baby shower decorations or a gift!

Here’s a graphic showing the four steps to make these pouches:

My chocolate bar sleeves and mini pouch fit perfectly in this larger pouch! Cute right?!

The truth is, I’m just a little bit addicted to making these easy little pouches and so I just have to show you more!

As a little surprise Thank You, to people who purchased my “Taste of a Suite” Product Shares, I included one of these adorable pouches with their shares. These pouches were made with the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ designer series paper.

Here’s the first bunch that I made:
