Fun Fold Card Ideas with Garden Lane

The Garden Lane designer series paper is the featured product for today’s fun fold card ideas.

This is a new designer series paper that will be available in the 2019 – 2020 Annual Catalog, that goes live on June 4, 2019. This paper is all about shades of green and I love it! In today’s post, you’ll see three versions of this card with six of the different patterns in the designer paper pack.

This first card is my original design. It was created for a designer paper focused card swap, to get ideas for the new catalog coming out in just a few weeks.

As you can see this card doesn’t open like a traditional card.

This fun fold card is called a “Joy Fold” card. I’m not sure where it got this name :-). It’s a bit like a card in a card. I love making and sharing fun fold card ideas!

A few details:

  • I’ve used a Garden Green card base, Pear Pizzazz cardstock in the inside and Whisper White cardstock for the “inner card”.
  • On the focal piece, I’ve used a piece of Vellum cardstock between the designer paper and the die-cut “Thank You”. This was done to mute the pattern of the designer paper just a bit, so it didn’t compete with the sentiment visually.

As you can see here the construction of this card is very simple.

The dimensions and scoring details can be found toward the end of this post!

One of the cool features of this card is that it has a bit of a “latch” to hold the card closed.

In the photo below you may be able to see that my little element with the leaves on a circle, overlaps the Whisper White inner card, to hold the card shut. In my video ahead I shared some tips for how I attached this “latch”.

While there is a coordinating stamp set designed to go with the Garden Lane designer paper, I have not used it here. That stamp set is called Verdant Garden and it has some very pretty images in it. Stay tuned to see projects made with that set soon.

For my fun fold card ideas today, I’ve used the Painted Harvest Stamp Set and coordinating Leaf punch. The “Thank You” die was used for the sentiment.

So as mentioned previously, I made three versions of this card. Here is my second one:

On this one, the Vellum Cardstock was NOT used on the focal piece. I just couldn’t stand to cover up the gorgeous designer series paper behind the “Thank You”.

This may be my favorite design in the pack. For this one, the card base is made with Soft Sea Foam and Mossy Meadow cardstock is used for the inner card. I added some Whisper White panels to the inside so there would be a place to write.

I just love the fresh, light, feel of this card.

This next photo shows all three versions of my card. I love how they all turned out!

The one in the upper left was the one I made during my video tutorial, which you’ll find ahead. It was also one of the make n’ takes, at our recent team gathering. I love the papers on this one too!

Melissa, thank you so much for sharing these cards!! I’m teaching a class at our local library tomorrow and was at a loss what to do for the 2nd card.
The 1st card is a Christmas card but for the 2nd wanted to do a fall card. Found an unopened package of Garden Lane and did a search on Pinterest and there was your beautiful card(s). Thank you! Thank you!!
    Peace and grace, Pam
