Todays Fun Fold Cards Tutorial is a blast from the past, in honor of my 20th Anniversary as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!
Each year on my Stampin’ Up! anniversary one of my favorite things to do is pull out a project made earlier in my time as a demonstrator, and remake it with current Stampin’ Up! products. I call this a “Rewind/Redo” project. In this post, you’ll see my old “rewind” project and new “redo” project. At the end of this post, you’ll find the video version of the fun fold cards tutorial. At the end of this post, you’ll also learn how to get a FREE downloadable PDF Tutorial to make this project.
The photo here features my “Rewind” project on the right and my “Redo” on the left.
For the rewind project, I stamped the focal piece, and for my redo project, the focal piece uses the Hello Irresistible Designer Deries Paper. I love the Stampin’ Up! designer series papers! They make designing cards so easy!

Here’s a closer look at the front of my new card. I’ve used the Scalloped Contour Dies to create the rectangular scalloped edge opening and focal piece.

Now, while you can’t tell by looking at the front, this is an unusual fun fold card.
In fact, it could just as easily be called an unusual opening card! Here’s what the card looks like when it’s open and lying flat:

Check out the top view of this card!
Would you ever guess that it opened in this way by looking at the front of the card?

Let’s take a closer look at the front of the card.
I’ve used three Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

The Happy Labels Pick A Punch was used for the delicate scalloped edges on the sentiment piece. The sentiment comes from the Irresistible Blooms Stamp Set. Under the sentiment, there’s a small strip of Brushed Gold Metallic paper. I love this touch of gold that coordinates with the gold trim.

Here’s a close-up of the top of the focal piece. I love to pull the filament out of the center of this gold trim so I can fray the ends for a little added sparkle. Isn’t this designer paper just gorgeous? This close-up shows all the soft tones in the paper and the pretty floral images.

The mechanism that makes this card work is really quite simple.
Here’s a view of the inside of the card from the backside so you can see how it’s constructed. Watch my video tutorial ahead to see me put this card together, OR learn how you can get a FREE PDF tutorial just ahead.

Here’s my second version of this card:
In this version, I used a different pattern of designer series paper for the focal piece to mix things up. Plus, I’ve used the Petal Pink cut-out from the first card and the Flirty Flamingo negative space piece for the card base. It’s fun that this card is sort of a two-for-one deal! All the other elements are the same as on the first card.

Here are my two cards side by side:
Which do you like better?
