Today’s project features the High Tide Stamp Set which is one of my favorite summertime sets!
This project was first shared in early 2017, on my old Stampin’ Up! blog, which will be gone very soon. Since Stampin’ Up! is taking down the blog portion of the site, I’ve picked some of my favorite posts from that blog to bring over here to my new site.

This is a simple card that is all about stamping and one must-know technique called masking!
Essentially you stamp the lighthouse image and the “ground” image on a post-it note and cut them out. As you will see in the photo below you don’t need to cut out the whole image, just the part that you will be stamping over.
I am using these masks so that when I stamp the “water” image, none of the “water” will get onto the lighthouse or ground. By doing it this way, the “water” looks like it is in the background giving it a realistic look.
Masking is one of the most simple, but powerful techniques a paper crafter can learn. It’s a little bit like magic!

There are two fun little detail I’d like to share about this card. The first is that I have colored the “water” with my Clear Wink of Stella Brush. In the next photo, you can see how the ocean sort of shimmers. Doesn’t it look cool! I LOVE my Wink of Stella Brushes!
The second detail is that I have used two Silver Enamel Shapes on the front of my lighthouse adding another little element of shine to the scene.

I hope you have enjoyed this project!
