How to make Pinwheel Cards

I’m excited to be sharing a variety of simple Pinwheel Cards in today’s post.

This style card is one of those oldies but goodies-type cards! Pinwheel Cards are easy to make and can be made to look playful and youthful, elegant and stunning, masculine, or really for any occasion you can think of.

I was inspired to play around with this style of card because I recently received a pinwheel card as a swap so I just had to make some of my own! The card you see below is the swap card I received. It’s made with the beautiful, Countryside Inn designer series paper that’s on sale until June 30th. Isn’t this a pretty card? It was made by fellow demonstrator, Jeanne Moss.

My first version of this card features the “Let’s Go Fishing” designer series paper.

I wanted to make a masculine-themed card and this paper was simply perfect! For my two pinwheel cards, I’ve added a few additional layers to the pinwheel element. I’ve used Mossy Meadow cardstock for the first layers and Boho Blue for the larger layers.

The metallic embellishment in the center seemed like a perfect addition to this card. It’s like the piece in the center of a real pinwheel that allows it to spin.

For the second of my two pinwheel cards, I decided to stamp four of the eight squares that make up the pinwheel instead of using designer paper.

For the stamping on these four squares, the Gorgeously Made Stamp Set was used. Plus, I’ve used some Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper. I adore this paper and it comes in five colors in the pack!

The embellishment in the middle is from a new set of embellishments called Sparkle Gems. These come in two sizes and three neutral colors and I love them!

The sentiment used on this second card comes from the Charming Sentiments stamp set shown below.

I just love this trio of cards. This layout is so versatile; you simply can’t go wrong!
