July 2022 Color Challenge & Blog Hop!

July 2022 Color Challenge

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop and July 2022 Color Challenge!

My July 2022 Color Challenge project features the super cute Bottled Happiness Stamp Set. The color scheme is Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, and Smoky Slate, a color combination that I’d likely never put together, and yet, once again, I love the end result! LOL!

To build the focal element I used three different stamps.

The floral element was created using two different stamps that layer to create the finished image. Two-step stamping, like this, offers the benefits of coloring without the added time and effort to color each image in different colors.

My July 2022 Color Challenge project features the super cute Bottled with Happiness stamp set with Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, and Smoky Slate.

To get started you’ll stamp the bottle in Smoky Slate ink toward the bottom of the white cardstock.

NOTE: Make sure to leave enough space so the sentiment strip will fit below the bottle and still be on the white cardstock.

Next, I recommend stamping the larger floral image in the Poppy Parade just above, but close to the bottle. The third image includes both tiny flowers and foliage shapes. You’ll be stamping this image in Petal Pink ink.

TIP: To get the second image lined up perfectly over the first image, make sure that the tiny Petal Pink flowers are directly superimposed over the similarly shaped flower that was left white after stamping the first floral image.

After all the stamping is done, you can add a bit of Clear Wink of Stella.

I added Wink of Stella to the white spots on the bottle to give it a little shine. You may be able to see that in these photos.

As you can see below, the sentiment piece is just below the bottle so that it provides a bit of a shelf for the bottle. We don’t want the bottle to look like it’s floating in the air! The sentiment is stamped in Poppy Parade ink on the Petal Pink cardstock strip and then the ends were punched out with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. This piece is attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Smoky Slate layer is dry embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing folder.

To give it a whitewashed look a White Craft Ink pad was lightly rubbed over the dry embossed surface. This is called the “direct to paper” technique.

Tip: This white ink is different than the Classic Stampin’ Up! Ink pads in that it’s a Pigment-Based Ink. Classic pads are dye-based. Pigment inks take a while to dry so you’ll either want to set it aside to dry for a bit or gently dry it with your heat tool on the low setting.

Once your piece is dry wrap some white Bakers Twine around the dry embossed piece three times, and tie it off so the knot is justified to the right side of the piece. Now all that’s left to do is to attach all the pieces together and the card is all done.

While I only used the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set here (and not the coordinating punch) you should know that when you buy these two products as a bundle you’ll get them at a 10% discount!
