Layout Inspiration Ideas

In today’s post and Facebook Live, I’m sharing an art piece that was the layout inspiration for three variations on a card design.

I’ve used two stamp sets, the Pressed Flowers hostess set that will retire with the Annual Catalog on 6/3, and the Woven Heirlooms set, which will be available in the new 2019 – 2020 Annual catalog that goes live on 6/4/19. These projects are very different from anything I’ve ever created! I like to call them puzzle cards. Here is the art piece that was my layout inspiration.

So for all three of the cards I made, I created rows of white panels with colored segments, similar to the colors in the art piece.

This first one was made with the hostess set called Pressed Flowers. This hostess set will no longer be available after June 3, 2019.

This first card had tons of little pieces with four rows as you can see! The next two cards had just three rows just to simplify a bit.

I tried to replicate the look of having the stamped image on the colored and white panel but it was really hard to do well, so I only managed to do it on one of the Green, and one of the Blue small pieces, as you can see here.

The second two versions of my card were made with the Woven Heirlooms stamp set.

For this next card, I reoriented it and put the largest panel in the center. I really just wanted to find a way to use the gorgeous sentiment you see here, plus it was just fun to mix things up!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s cards and seeing the layout inspiration I used!

It was challenging to try to recreate the look of this art piece. I’m honestly not convinced that I did it justice but it was fun trying!
