Who doesn’t love a Clean and Simple card that can can be made in really any color scheme?
In this post I’ll be showing two version of my clean and simple card design. These projects were made with the Eden’s Garden, Watercolor Shapes and Forever Fern Stamp Sets. That said, there are so many other possibilities for stamps you could use, and the colors used, which are just some of the things I love about these cards!
I’ll be sharing some suggestions for some ways to achieve the basic look of this card with stamps and supplies you have on hand.

The process for making this card is super simple… a little stamping, some tearing, a little embellishing with black brads and away we go! This clean and simple card is a perfect balance of easy AND interesting too! Plus, I especially love that the design is not so simple that it’s boring!
Here are the basic steps for making this card:
- Tear the black and white pieces so they layer nicely.
- On the white cardstock stamp the small square image multiple times in first, second and third inking to create a pile of blocks along the bottom.
- Stamp your black folige to create the sideways “S” shape “trail” of images.
- Stamp the sentiment of your choice and some black specks to create a second “trail” that moves from above the sentiment down to the bottom right side of the focal piece. The specks were stamped in first and second inking.
- Attach the stamped piece to it’s black backing.
- Punch two holes at the top, insert brads and attach the whole assembled piece to the card base with dimensionals.

Let’s Talk Design!
For those of you that like to get “into the weeds” of design! What makes this simple card work?
Firstly, I especially love the little foliage image from the Eden’s Garden Stamp Set! It’s got a curved spine which works perfectly to help create the feeling of movement in the “S” shape trail of images. I also love how this foliage stamp has tiny little dots between the various leaves, which ties in so nicely with the additional specks of black stamped to create the second “trail”. It is precisely the feeling of movement created by these two “trails”, combined with the simple images, perfect sentiment, and monochromatic color scheme that make this design so lovely. Again, it’s simple but it also has interesting elements that tie together well!
I just love this Clean and Simple card design and can envision making it in every color of the rainbow! Can you visualize it too? Start by scrolling down and checking out my second version made in Balmy Blue below. 🙂
Wouldn’t a bunch of these make a great gift set for either a man or woman?

For this first card, I’ve used the small square stamp from the Watercolor Shapes stamp set, but what if you don’t have this set?
Read on for some alternative options for ways to make your own stamp!

For the Balmy Blue card below I made my own stamp! Wanna know how I did it?

When you buy any stamp set made with red rubber there are always leftover scraps of the red rubber.
Do you throw these right in the trash like me? You may want to start keeping some of these pieces to make your own stamps!
Now to create my square stamp, I simply cut a small square from a scrap of red rubber like the one you see in the photo above. To mimic the shape of the stamp from the Watercolor Shapes stamp set I made sure NOT to cut lines that were perfectly straight. In the close-up below you’ll be able to see the somewhat irregular edge of my squares.

Now, the surface of the rubber is smooth so the stamped squares are more solid in the center than in my first card.
I could have tried to roughen up the surface of the rubber with sandpaper, but I just chose to keep it simple. Maybe next time I’ll try doing that. I think it turned out great! What do you think?

If you don’t have any red rubber laying around here’s another alternative for you.
Simply use a piece of fun foam to cut the shape and size you want to create your own stamp. You may want to attach two or more layers of your fun foam together before cutting your shape out. The added height will help to ensure that when you ink up your stamp you’ll have some clearance between the stamp and the block you place your homemade stamp on.

Here’s my pair of clean and simple cards side by side so you can compare the two yourself!

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my clean and simple cards today and that you’re inspired to create!

As a reminder, today’s project is a Stamper’s Club project so if you join a club soon you can get the parts and pieces to make this card, plus two additional cards for FREE.
In fact, you get the pieces to make 2 each of 3 different designs, and the cutting and die-cutting will be done for you! A PDF with the dimensions, supplies, and photos of each of the three projects will also be provided. Here’s a photo of the current kits:
