March 2024 Color Challenge & Color Fusers Blog Hop

March 2024 Color Challenge

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop and March 2024 Color Challenge!

If you’ve already started the blog hop you should be coming from the talented Brenda Nelson’s blog post. If you’ve just joined in, make sure to do the full hop and see all the wonderful projects created by the Color Fusers Design team! The color scheme for the March 2024 Color Challenge includes Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and one of the 2022 – 2024 InColors, Sweet Sorbet. This set of InColors is retiring the end of April!

Today’s project features the Everyday Details Bundle which includes some beautiful, line drawn images and some lovely sentiments too. I’ve made two versions of this design. Here’s my original design. You’ll find the second version later on in this post.

My image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored in using mostly Blends Alcohol Markers. I did need to use one regular Stampin’ Write Marker where I didn’t have the Blends.

The Blends are my absolute favorite coloring method. The coloring is a bit quicker than some other methods plus they allow me to do some simple shading which makes me feel like an artist.

I’ve used a touch of Sweet Sorbet ribbon on my card for some added texture and interest plus a Sweet Sorbet Pearl for the center of the biggest flower.

I took the design to the inside and colored my image in the same way.

The second version of my card has just a few changes.

I made this card in my recent YouTube Live with input from those watching. The truth is, I ran out of Sweet Sorbet ribbon so replaced it with a simple strip of the same color of cardstock.

That strip looked a bit naked in comparison to the ribbon. My friend MaryBeth who was watching live suggested the addition of embellishments so I pulled out the Iridescent Pearls and added three to the strip at the top. I decided add three more pearls in the bottom right corner. They just seemed to balance out the design.

Last but not least, for my second version, I decided to add a layer of white behind the focal piece to soften the look of the holes along the edges. It gives a really different look to the card.

Check out my two versions side by side below!

While I really like both cards, if I had to choose my favorite it would probably be my original design with the ribbon.

How about you? Do you prefer one version over the other? Leave a comment and let me know!
