Masking Tape Technique Fun!

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing projects made with variations of the Masking Tape Technique and two retiring stamp sets, Lovely As A Tree and Amazing Life.

Up until now, I’ve really only done the masking tape technique in one way. It was really fun to play with some variations on the technique!

For this first project, I used the simplest method. I basically inked up a strip of masking tape and placed the masking tape on my cardstock. For this card, I used Soft Sea Foam, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing projects made with variations of the Masking Tape Technique and two retiring stamp sets, Lovely As A Tree and Amazing Life.

A few details:

  • A tiny strip of white is left uninked between each of the strips of color here.
  • The Soft Sea Foam layer in the background is dry embossed with the Subtle Embossing folder.
  • I’ve used the Shimmer Black Ribbon along the bottom. This gorgeous ribbon is retiring as of 6/3/19. I will miss this lovely, versatile ribbon!

This next card is also created using the Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set.

  • For this one, I stamped using the masking tape technique, just oriented the strips along the short edge instead.
  • The three central colors are the same as on the previous card. I’ve added a Pumpkin Pie strip to the top and Granny Apple Green Strip to the bottom.

I think this card looks good oriented both ways! What do you think?

Here’s another variation that also uses the masking tape technique in a new way.

  • For this card, I essentially did the same thing but instead, I used 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation inking and I overlapped the colors a bit so one color would blend into the other.
  • I’ve used Soft Sea Foam at the bottom and two of the NEW 2019 – 2021 InColors for the top two colors. The blue is called Seaside Spray and the top color is called Purple Posy. I think these are my two favorite new InColors!

What do you think of this blended look and different way of doing the masking tape technique?

In the photo below there’s one variation not shared above.

For the card in the upper left hand corner I used Granny Apple Green ink instead of the Soft Sea Foam for the “ground”. As I said in my Facebook Live video I was actually craving a mix of these two greens for that bottom strip.

This thought inspired yet another variation which I’ve shared in the video you’ll find just ahead.

This next card shows yet another way to do the masking tape technique!

For this one I’ve used multiple colors on each strip of masking tape.

This card was made with the Amazing Life stamp set which is also retiring as of 6/3/19!

I love this sentiment and wish it were not going away so soon!
