Mini Pocket Card with the Ornate Garden Paper

Today’s project features multiple variations of a mini pocket card with the Ornate Garden Paper.

Now, this mini pocket card with the Ornate Garden paper is one of my three May/June 2020 Club and Free Card Kit projects. This month I prepared 80 kits! About half of these were mailed to club members since we couldn’t meet in person this month. The other half will be sent to people who earn kits through my Free Card Kit program. That meant A LOT of punching and scoring. Plus, this is just one of three projects! I’ve been a busy bee!!!

One thing that makes this design especially fun is that I’ve made card variations that show off several of the different patterns of designer paper in the Ornate Garden Specialty Paper pack. Each card includes a different combination of designer paper patterns and ribbons that coordinate. Here’s a look at all these beautiful patterns.

Here are four of the card variations I made but you’ll find even more later in this post.

This card is a bit of a fun fold. The Early Espresso card base measures 4-¼” x 9-¾” and is scored at 5-½”. The pocket that sits on the front of the card measures 3″ x 6″ and it’s folded in half. An opening is created for the tag to slip into using the Classic Label punch. Assembly details are in my video later in this post.

The two punched Daisies are attached with two glue dots layered on top of one another so there’d be a tiny bit more separation between the two flowers. The petals were curled and shaped using a bone folder.

This next version is my favorite one. I love both of these designer paper patterns. For this card, I decided to use a Whisper White piece for the sentiment since there are white elements in the designer paper. I always try to get a balance in my colors when I choose each element.

As you may have noticed, the ribbons used on this card are different from the first card. It was really fun to mix up the ribbons in these designs. The old olive ribbon on this card and the calypso coral on the previous card come as a combination pack and are part of the Ornate Garden product suite.

For this next card, all I’ve changed is the designer paper patterns used. Everything else is exactly the same as on the previous card. Isn’t it fun to see how the look of the card changes so much with these different papers?

I do love these daisy patterns!

For this next card, I’m actually using the same designer paper pieces for the small front panel but the opposite side of the paper is showing.

This alternate side has embossed gold elements that shine as you can see here. It makes for a simpler, less busy design which I also like.

So far, I’ve used five of the twelve designer paper patterns. The background piece here is the sixth pattern and the focal piece is simply a colored version of the pattern from the previous card.

Mint Macaron was used for the Tag on this one and it’s paired with ribbons like in the first card. the biggest difference is of course the fact that the designer paper is colored. I used a variety of Blends Alcohol Markers to color this little piece of designer paper transforming it into something that looks completely different! So fun right?! My video ahead includes the details of how I colored this piece.

Do these designer papers look familiar? I used both of them on previously shared cards!

Some of the flowers on the small piece of designer paper here started as white or off white. I colored them using my light and dark calypso coral blends alcohol markers. I love this variation!
