In today’s post, I’ll be sharing the two projects that we made at my recent team gathering. I think you’re going to love these WOW projects especially because they’re so simple to make!
Incidentally, these two projects are so incredibly different and almost like “night” and “day”. I only say this because one is mostly white and the other is mostly black. This wasn’t intentional, it just worked out that way. The first card is made with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder and I’ve used the Lovely Lily Pad Stamp set and coordinating products for the second card.
The first project we made was copied from a project I saw on Pinterest.
It was CASE’d from Cathy Casey at sugarshackdesigns.com. I pretty much made it as-is except I did not use ribbon. The truth is that I liked the ribbon, I just didn’t have that particular ribbon and I thought it looked great without it as well.
The featured products on this first card are the Lovely Lily Pad Stamp set and Lily Pad Dies and the Scripty 3-D embossing folder. I love this simple crisp design! Thank you Cathy!

For this card, I’ve used both Watercolor Paper and Whisper White Cardstock. The flower and lily pad images were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in white. Next, they were watercolored using an Aqua Painter.

The other two shapes were die cut using Whisper White cardstock. After I dry embossed my white layer I first attached that fun shape that’s like a series of upside-down teardrops. I just love that die-cut shape. If you love it too, you might want to check out my video, because, I showed another card that used it several times for a very fun look. Make sure to watch my video if you want to see that card plus more “show and tell”.

To assemble the main focal element, I attached the two flower pieces to one another using glue dots and then attached the bottom of the watercolored flower to the lily pad, also with glue dots. Stampin’ Dimensionals were put all over the backside. I found that this was the easiest way to get all the shapes placed exactly as I wanted them.
A few pearls were added for some additional interest.

My original remake of this card is the one above. Cathy’s card was made with a yellow flower so, in my Facebook Live video, the card I made featured a Daffodil Delight flower as you see below.

At our team gathering, this week team members could use any ink refill color that they wanted. One person used the Daffodil Delight and the others used Highland Heather. I so wish I’d gotten a photo so I could have shared it here! You’ll just have to do some creative visualization or better yet, go make your own!!! 🙂

The Lovely Lily Pad Stamp set and coordinating Lily Pad Dies are items that you can get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration with qualifying orders.
The stamp set is a level 1 item which means you can get it when you spend $50 in merchandise and the dies are a level 2 item so you can get it when you spend $100. If you just have to have both of these items and you decide to place a $150 order, you’ll also get hostess rewards which means MORE FREE Products! Fun right?!

This next card is my own original design and it features the Parisian Flourish embossing folder and a technique I’m calling Burnished Baroque.
Here’s a look at the embossing folder and a sample of what it looks like when used with plain cardstock. Isn’t it just gorgeous!?

The Burnished Baroque Technique is actually quite easy to do but I think you’ll agree that it yields a very dramatic result!
To create this focal piece I’ve essentially “stamped” with my embossing folder using Versamark on a copper foil sheet. I then heat embossed using Black embossing powder.

Next, you simply use some fine sandpaper to distress and sand away some of the exposed raised areas. Now there are a few more tips and details you might want to know. To learn more check out my video which is included ahead.
I just adore the Parisian Flourish Embossing folder and just about fell out of my chair with excitement when I created this focal piece!
For me, this was one of those moments when I found what I like to call, my “Creative Bliss”.

So I don’t know about you but when I create something that I love so much, it gets all my creative juices flowing, and then I start thinking of other variations I want to try.
This is often what happens when I’m designing something I might offer as a Technique Class. What happens next is I just keep playing and trying things and go deep into the technique and design so I can learn and then pass that knowledge along to students who take my classes. If I’m smart about it, I take photos along the way and videotape myself as I create and play.

So, as I was preparing for the Facebook Live yesterday, I got to thinking… why not try the Burnished Baroque Technique on other colored foils.
So I went ahead and created the focal pieces you see here with a variety of colored foils. I’ve used the Gold Foil (upper left) and Noble Peacock Foil sheets for the focal pieces and additional card below. Aren’t these so pretty! I love them!!!

So, when I “go deep” in my creative process and share it with you, I hope it will inspire you to think of other fun variations of your own.
My goal is always to help YOU to FIND YOUR “CREATIVE BLISS”!
If you haven’t heard me talk about “creative bliss” before, I describe it as that crazy, excited, feeling that comes when you’ve created something that’s unique, beautiful and expresses who you are in some small way. It’s like making a new discovery!

So did this make you think of other fun variations?
Why not try doing this technique with other embossing folders OR other colors of embossing powder? I challenge you to play and come up with your own little masterpieces!

If you love techniques, enjoy taking a “deep dive” into the creative process, and want a bit of a jump start in finding your “creative bliss”, you might love my technique classes!
