Playful Pets Paper Fun Fold

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing two fun fold cards. The first one was one of my three May/June 2020 Club and Free Card Kit projects. The second is a redo and is made with the Playful Pets paper.

In the first photo below, the card you see on the top was the May/June club and free card kit project and the one on the bottom is my new version featuring the Playful Pets Paper.

Now my club and free card kit program runs on a two-month cycle. So, for the May/June projects, I generally have to choose if I’m going to show retiring products or new products.

May is a great time to share products that are retiring and in June sharing new products is the way to go! These last few months have been unusual times, to say the least. I’ve found myself a bit behind schedule on a number of fronts. That said, this post is coming out quite a bit later than usual so I’m featuring BOTH retired and new products in my projects!

This Playful Pets Paper Fun Fold Card is quick and easy to make! This is a redo of a club and free card kit project made with the Birthday Bonanza Paper.

This first card is made with the Birthday Bonanza designer paper, the Perennial Birthday stamp set, and the balloon punch. The balloon punch is the only one of these three products that is still current. I’m going to miss using that big “Happy Birthday” image!

So this card is a simple fun fold card and opens a bit like lopsided double doors. The right side panel is half the width of the left side panel.

The sentiment piece is attached with Dimensionals only to the panel on the right.

I also like to call this a “latch fold” card because the sentiment piece is attached so that the upper left corner fits under the balloon element on the left and serves as a “latch” to hold it shut as you can see here.

For this mechanism to work the latch piece needs to be raised up on Dimensionals so there’s room for the sentiment piece to fit under it. The Daffodil Delight balloon is attached with one layer of dimensionals which is the perfect height for the latch. To create some dimension and interest, the Mango Melody balloon (to the left) is attached flat on the card and the Coastal Cabana balloon (on the right) actually has two layers of dimensionals behind it.

This card can actually stand up in two ways. When the card is unlatched it looks like this but it can also stand up when it’s latched as well.

Here’s my latched card standing up. As you can probably guess, it’s a bit less precarious when standing up this way but it still works.

If you receive free card kits from me for purchases in May/June 2020, the kit you’ll receive will include the parts and pieces to make this version of my card. Please note, I did use a variety of the designer papers in the pack so yours might be slightly different from the one you see here.

My second card features the Playful Pets paper which is a new product in the 2020 – 2021 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalog. I’ve created both a “cat” and “dog” version of this card.

I don’t usually go for the cutsie style stamps and papers, and I definitely categorize both the Birthday Bonanza paper and Playful Pets paper as cutsie! Nonetheless, I love both of these projects AND think they are adorable! Go figure!

Here’s a close up of my “latch” and that adorable little cat in the lower right-hand corner! Don’t you love how the kitty is looking at the “Thanks”, fishes and other punched cat element? Cute right?!

Here’s the “dog” version of my Playful Pets paper card.

Generally speaking, I’m more a cat person than a dog person but I actually like the dog paper and card a little more than the cat card. Check out those adorable dogs and dog-themed images in these papers; the cute little paws, tiny bones, dog food dish, and collar! So cute!

That little red heart is popped up on a dimensional. It’s one of the punched pieces from the dog builder punch.
