Quick Cards with the Ornate Style Set

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing some super quick cards with the Ornate Style Set! I’ve used sponge daubers for my coloring in with the retiring 2018 – 2020 InColors.

So I’ve made three variations of this card and I’m featuring four out of five of the retiring in colors including, Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover. Here are my three quick cards with the Ornate Style set:

So for coloring the larger flowers, I start with my sponge dauber toward the center and fan out with a lighter touch toward the edges of the flower. I like to have a darker color in the center and lighter shades toward the edges.

For the Pineapple Punch and Grapefruit Grove flowers, this works really well. It’s even pretty easy to stay in the lines.

When coloring the smaller flowers and the leaves it’s a bit harder to stay in the lines as you can see here. For these smaller images, in particular, I find that it’s a lot easier to control the amount of color you get if you don’t have a lot of ink on the dauber when you start coloring in.

It can also be really helpful to hold your dauber on its edge when pressing on the ink pad and applying the ink to your images.

I’ve used ribbons in coordinating colors along the bottom of my focal pieces. In one case I actually tied the ribbon and the others I just attached a piece with glue dots around the backside for a simpler look.

So, I’m happy with my simple card but you could also add some pearls or rhinestone jewels to add some bling. You could also add some Wink of Stella to your flowers, as I’ve done here.
