Have you checked out the Sea of Textures Stamp Set?
I love the texture and natural images, so this stamp set jumped out at me right away as a must have. Today’s project is made with my very own “Black Ice” Technique. I’ve been dying to combine this stamp set with this technique since I first saw the set!
By the way, this project was first shared on June 14, 2018, on my old Stampin’ Up! blog, which will be gone very soon. Since Stampin’ Up! is taking down the blog portion of the site, I’ve picked some of my favorite posts from that blog to bring over here to my new site.

It seemed like the perfect time of year to share this project given that we’re now in the middle of summer.
For this project, I used a Champaign Foil sheet. This is the first time I’ve used this color of foil sheet with the Black Ice Technique. I thought the pinkish hue might be nice, with the coral tones that you might envision in the ocean.
I’ve actually used two favorite new colors on this card, Grapefruit Grove (one of the new In Colors) and Petal Pink (one of the new Subtles). I didn’t even think I’d like the Petal Pink, not really being a “pink” person, but I’ve already used it a bunch! It’s actually got a slight peachy hue, which I like a lot, and it pairs with the Grapefruit Grove beautifully!
Here’s a close up:

After stamping and completing the black ice technique, I used my light and dark Calypso Coral Blends Alcohol Markers, to color in the Octopus. I used the light color on the tentacles and the dark color on the little dots on the tentacles. It’s subtle, but I love how it ties in with the Grapefruit Grove card base, and layer of Petal Pink.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my project today. To purchase any of the products to make this card, check out the complete supply list ahead.
