September 2022 Color Challenge & Blog Hop

September 2022 Color Challenge

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop and September 2022 Color Challenge!

If you’ve already started the blog hop you should be coming from the talented Janneke Dijkstra de Jong blog post. If you’ve just joined in, make sure to do the full hop and see all the wonderful projects created by the Color Fusers Design team! The color scheme for the September 2022 Color Challenge is Fresh Freesia, Blackberry Bliss, and Pale Papaya. This was an easy combination to work with and my card came together really fast. Love that!

My card today features the Framed Occasions Stamp Set and the Beautiful Shapes Dies. This was a simple fun card to create and put together!

My September 2022 Color Challenge project features the Framed Occasions Stamp Set, and Beautiful Shapes dies with a beautiful set of colors.

You’ll start by die-cutting a large, medium, and small hexagon in each of the respective colors in the challenge.

I chose to die-cut the smallest hexagon in the darkest strongest color (Blackberry Bliss) so it wouldn’t overpower the other two colors. Next, I chose an image to stamp onto each hexagon. My two favorite images in the set are the delicate sprig-type shapes so I wanted those to be the most prominent. The top Pale Papaya hexagon is my favorite. It’s stamped with Pale Papaya ink.

Next, I stamped the hexagon outline shape and sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink on some Basic White cardstock. These were then die-cut. The sentiment and outline shape were both stamped with full ink. The additional images around the sentiment were stamped with second and third ink so I’d get some lighter shades of Blackberry Bliss for some added interest. The sentiment piece is attached to the layer behind with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Blackberry Bliss hexagon is stamped with the same color ink. It’s pretty dark and a bit hard to see. I’m thinking that if I were to make this card again I might try heat embossing the images on this piece with white or clear embossing powder so they’d show up more.

The largest Fresh Freesia hexagon is stamped with the same color in first and second ink.

After all the hexagons were ready to go I laid them all out to get my placement and then stamped the additional images.

I started by stamping each image so that it would be in the spot farthest from (and not next to) the corresponding hexagon piece. Stamp these three images in full ink. To complete the background, stamp the trio of spots image repeatedly in first, second, and third ink.

For some added interest and a bit of bling, add some Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels. I’ve used seven jewels total with some on the hexagons and others in the background. I love how these jewels really complete this card!

So after this post went live I did decide to create a second variation with my goal of making the stamping more noticeable on the Blackberry Bliss hexagon. I featured this variation in my weekly Facebook Live.

Here is my redo of this project:

I made two changes; 1) The Blackberry Bliss hexagon is stamped, and heat embossed with white embossing powder, and 2) I used a different sentiment from the Framed Occasions Stamp Set. I love this versatile, bold sentiment!

Here’s how I decorated the insides of my cards. I especially love the series of stamped hexagon pieces.
