Simple Watercolor Background with the Trucking Along Bundle!

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing a project made with a super simple watercolor background technique.

I love simple watercolor backgrounds and this method makes it so easy to get beautiful results quickly!

You’ll want to use watercolor paper for the focal piece on this card. I’ve also used a Stampin’ Up! “I” size block.

The background colors are Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Boho Blue.

The trees are created using two stamps, one stamped on top of the other. This is called two-step stamping. The tree outline is stamped in black ink and the green foliage is stamped in Mossy Meadow ink. I used the masking technique so I could make the three trees at three different heights.

The truck is built using three different stamps, one for the truck outline in black, a second image to add black to the tires, and the third, Misty Moonlight to “color in” the body of the truck.

One of my favorite things about the Trucking Along Stamp Set is that there are several fun images designed to put in the back of the adorable little truck. In addition to flowers, there are presents, a palm tree, a Christmas tree, and more! So fun right?!

Here’s a close-up of the flowers in my truck:

I love the original card but the flowers just step it up and make it that much more special.

Speaking of stepping it up… here’s a version made with a Christmas tree in the truck.

With the deciduous trees and bright yellow skyline, this looks a bit like Christmas in the summer. I figure this could be perfect for our Australian friends where it is summer at Christmas time!

Here are the insides of my cards. For the one on the left, I used second inking for a lighter, more rustic-looking truck. You can stamp directly on the inside of the card or stamp and punch out the truck image. I used the Trucking Along Builder punch to punch out the black and smoky slate truck on the right. Cute and simple!
