Today’s Tiles Stamp Set!

I just love beautiful ceramic tiles and colorful clay pots and so I just had to have the Today’s Tiles Stamp Set!

This stamp set made me think of beautiful blue and white tiles, shiny ceramic plates in my childhood home, and the Mexican clay pots I saw when on a trip to Puerta Vallarta many years ago! I just love these rich blues and amber yellow tones and couldn’t wait to play with the Today’s Tiles Stamp Set to bring some of these memories to life.

I then started thinking about those same colors around my house and had to take and some photos. Here are some planters on my back deck. Can you also see the specks of purple/blue in the background? Those are some purple salvia growing in my garden!

Here’s a close up of the gorgeous purple salvia and gardenia from my garden. I just LOVE this purple color with the white! So you probably didn’t come to my blog to look at flowers and pots but I just couldn’t help but share!

The focal piece on my first card is made with two images from the Today’s Tiles Stamp Set, that lay one on top of the other.

It’s like coloring in with stamps! The outside image is stamped with Night of Navy ink and the second image is stamped with Seaside Spray ink. I used my Stamparatus so I could recreate several of these easily.

The images you see here are simply stamped but I also experimented with some heat embossing to create the look of shiny tiles.

The focal piece in this next photo was covered with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I’m having visions of cutting these into individual tiles and inlaying them into some embossing paste to give it a 3-D effect and get the look of real tiles!

… and of course, I couldn’t help but bring in some of the amber/gold tones into the mix. I heat embossed this focal piece as well. The colors here are Night of Navy and Bumblebee.

In fact, playing with this inspired me to pull out a ceramic pot purchased in Mexico that really should be in my garden, but is stuck in a cabinet in the garage instead.

Here’s a photo of this ceramic pot which my husband and I bought in 1996. We were on a trip to Puerto Vallarta when I was 5 months pregnant with my now 23-year-old daughter. It was sort of a bit of a last hurrah before taking on the commitment of parenthood. It was a great trip although there were no fruity, tropical alcohol drinks for me on that trip since I was pregnant! LOL!

I didn’t pull out this pot until after creating this next card but it’s kind of remarkable how the colors are so similar!

The card here measures 5-½” x 5-½” and the focal piece was made using the Stamparatus in a creative way. Check out my video at the end of this post for the details.

As you’ll see in the next few photos, I’ve played around with using different sentiments in a few color schemes. These sentiments are included in the Today’s Tiles Stamp Set.

For these last two cards, the sentiment pieces and their backings were punched on the ends with the amazing Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. There are six ways to use this punch! Plus, in my video, I showed a handy trick to use when creating a small sentiment piece like this one!

In the end, I used this Cinnamon Cider sentiment piece on the finished card you see below. The color scheme on this card is Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight, Cinnamon Cider, and Bumblebee. These last three colors are some of the new 2020 – 2022 In Colors.

Last but not least, in my Facebook Live demonstration, I showed yet another color with these images. I thought Pacific Point might be even closer in color to my recollections of the blue tile so I had to give it a try. The outline image is stamped with first ink and the “colored in” image is stamped with second inking for a lighter shade of blue. I then heat embossed with my clear embossing powder.

It’s hard to say which of the blues is closer to my ceramic pots but they’re all pretty to me!
