Check out my projects with an easy Watercolor Technique and the Greatest Journey Stamp Set!
This watercolor technique is so addictive! I could not stop playing with this and ended up making 8 cards each with a unique watercolored background! This is just soooo fun!

The images here were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink using a Stamparatus.
Watercolor paper has a bit of a textured surface so using a stamp positioning tool, like the Stamparatus allowed me to stamp over my images multiple times to get crisp, dark images. For this particular focal piece, I also colored in the flowers using my Clear Wink of Stella brush.

I’ve used a variety of color combinations for my focal pieces but for all of them, I used three different coordinating colors.
Watercolor paper is my favorite paper to use but you can also use Shimmery White cardstock as well. Any paper that can handle a bunch of water will work.
For these first two cards, I used Garden Green, Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape Ink Pads. When using this color combination you’ll just want to use the Pacific Point as the bridge between the other two colors. Pacific Point mixes well with both Gorgeous Grape and Garden Green.
IMPORTANT TIP: You will not likely want the Gorgeous Grape and Garden Green inks to mix. When these two colors combine you’ll get a brownish muddy color.

For this card, I chose to heat emboss my images with white embossing powder. A white card base was used instead of black to coordinate.
IMPORTANT TIP: It’s best to create your watercolor background first, allow it to dry completely (it must be BONE DRY) and then do your heat embossing. If you heat emboss first the images will be raised up slightly and you can end up with gaps in your watercolored background.

A completely different color combination was used for this next version. Plus, this card design is a little different from the others in that the ink colors used ended up being different from the cardstock colors that I liked with the focal piece. These details are included in the PDF tutorial for this project.

For most of my cards, I’ve embellished them using the Glossy Dots Assortment. This is a really awesome set of embellishments with dots in three different sizes and four colors.

Here is the first three cards side by side… five to go!

For the next set of cards, I decided to heat emboss the images with black embossing powder.
The watercolored backgrounds are a bit dark, so I was worried the black would be too dark. I actually really LOVE them with the black heat-embossed images so that’s what I used for the rest of my cards. I also used a different sentiment from the Greatest Journey Stamp Set to mix things up.

Here’s my next set of three cards side by side:
I love that each background is unique and beautiful!

For each of my cards, I used this same watercolor technique to color scraps of watercolor paper to use to decorate the insides of my cards.
Here are some of my insides:

I couldn’t resist but round out my set of cards using a pink/purple combination of colors!
Here are my final two watercolored pieces before I did any stamping on them. I think they’re so pretty as is!

Here they are after the images were heat embossed:

Here are the last two finished cards:

The images used on these cards come from the Greatest Journey Stamp Set.
I especially love the flower image in this set. The coordinating set of dies includes a die that cuts out these flowers plus LOTS more!
